Texas Birding Tours
I take clients all over the great big state of Texas on bird watching tours. Some of the main places we go and explore include the Austin and Central Texas area, where the highly sought-after birds are the Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo. Areas in Travis County include such places as Hornsby Bend, Platt Lane, Reimer's Ranch, Commons Ford, and Roy G. Guerrero Park near downtown Austin.
Williamson County, the county I live in just north of Austin, includes great places like Granger Lake, Murphy Park in Taylor (great for nesting herons, egrets, and cormorants), the fields around Thrall and Thorndale, Devine Lake, Lake Creek Trail, and Lake Georgetown.
Coastal places that are great to explore are the Galveston area, where I grew up, with beaches like Port Bolivar, High Island, Lafitte's Cove, and Quintana. The Corpus Christi area beaches are great as well. And we can never forget South Padre Island, where there are always great birds to look at, including some rare ones from time to time.
Other places like North Texas and the Panhandle have unique birds, and all the way out to West Texas the Guadalupe Mountains, Davis Mountains, Franklin Mountains, and Chisos Mountains are always great places to explore and view all the wonderful birds and wildlife they have to offer.
